Malegaon: Even after receiving
flaks from almost every corner of the world including the Supreme
Court in India for their inept attitude towards the Muslim community
in Gujarat, the government officials in the state are not ready to
learn any lesson. And it seems they are determined to continue with
their agenda to marginalise and traumatize the Muslims living in
Gujarat.
The latest in the
series is building a road in the middle of a graveyard in Dahod with
human remains still sticking out.
"The graveyard situated on Godhra Road
in Dahod and being used by Muslims from a long time have been
bulldozed by Dahod Municipal Council", said the local residents in a
letter to Minority Affairs Minister and Charge de affairs of Wakf
Salman Khursheed.
"Because of the demolition and
digging, the bones of body parts are moving loose in open", said the
letter dated October 8, 2009.
The property is registered under the
Wakf board law and belongs to the Muslim community. Still Dahod
civic body without any prior intimation run down the bulldozer over
the graveyard to build a road, said the residents in the letter.
Local residents had
already sparred part of the wakf land for irrigation purpose and to
help the local farmers. Also, the court had recently stayed on any
construction work on the said site. "But ignoring even the court
order, the civic body demolished the graveyard for the construction
of the road", the residents said in the letter.
The residents further complained in
their letter that the people residing near the graveyard are also
creating havoc against the Muslims. "People residing the graveyard
are desecrating the graves by throwing cowdung and tiding the cattle
inside the graveyard", the residents alleged in the letter to Salman
Khursheed seeking immediate action from the minister against the
culprits.
Copies of the letter has also been
sent to National Human Right Commission, Nation Commission for
Minorities, State Human Rights Commission, Central Waqf Board and
State Waqf Board appealing for immediate intervention to stop the
provoking and sensitive action by Dahod Municipal Council.
