Malegaon: The World March for Peace and Non-violence
that began in New Zealand on October 2, 2009 would be reaching India
on October 11.
"The World March for Peace and
Non-violence, started on 02 October 2009 at New Zealand after going
through Australia to Philippines will be reaching India capital New
Delhi on 11 October 2009 in the evening", says the General Secretary
of 'World Without Wars' Sudhir Gandotra in a press release.
The World March would be reaching
India via Bangladesh and Nepal on its way to Korea, Japan, China,
Russia, Europe, Africa, North & South America, says the press
release.
A welcome ceremony has been scheduled
to take place on 11th October 2009 at 06:00 PM in the evening at
International Airport.
In India, the World March (WM) is
coordinated by Ekta Parishad, South Asia Peace Alliance, Global
Gandhi Forum, ArtIndia, Foundation for Humanization, Abhigyan Disha,
JeevanDhara MargDarshak Society, Humanist Party of India and others.
Besides the welcome ceremony on
October 11, a host of programs including Reception and Prayer
meeting at Gandhi Samadhi, Rajghat, March to India Gate, Re-Assemble
at Gandhi Smriti, 30 January Marg, Cultural program and Award
Ceremony are organised on October 12 before sending off the WM team
to Wagha border on October 13.
The World March that began in New Zealand on October 2, 2009,
the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth, declared the
“International Day of Non-Violence” by the United Nations will
conclude in the Andes Mountains (Punta de Vacas, Aconcagua,
Argentina) on January 2, 2010.
Lasting
for 90 days and three long months of travel, the World March (WM) is
passing through all climates and seasons, from the hot summer of the
tropics and the deserts, to the winter of Siberia. A permanent base
of a hundred people of different nationalities is accompanying the
World March (WM).
This
is the first World March to circle the whole planet calling for
nuclear disarmament and the end of war, says 'World Without Wars' General Secretary
Sudhir Gandotra.
