Hyderabad: Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad and president of Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen Asaduddin Owaisi came out of his home past midnight yesterday when he was informed that Hyderabad city police and Special Task Force sleuths are breaking into Muslim houses in Old City area and arresting innocent Muslim youths.

Later, he went to the Charminar Police Station and sat on dharna demanding release of the innocents.

Owaisi was accompanied by some MIM members of the Assembly and Corporation. As soon as the news spread about the protest, family members of those picked by the police the same night also reached the police station and started making slogans against the police. Owaisi said that the Chief Minister talks about peace on one hand but has given free hand to police to terrorise innocents on the other. He said that it will be difficult to restore peace until special investigation team and task force are checked.

According to Etemaad Daily, around 1 am yesterday the sleuths of Hyderabad police, special investigation team and task force entered Qazipura and Rooplal Bazar area in Old City. They started breaking into homes and misbehaved with women and arrested several youths.

As soon as the news reached Owaisi he came out of his home around 2:30 am and went straight to the police station. Higher officials of the Hyderabad police also rushed to the Charminar police station and assured Owaisi that all the youths will be released tomorrow morning.
