Malegaon: On the third
anniversary of the 2008 blast carried allegedly by the terrorists
associated with the right wing Hindutva organisations, Malegaon
reiterates its demand for fair and impartial probe into the
heinous incident.
"Thorough investigations into the
2008 Malegaon blast carried during the holy month of Ramadan is
necessary because following the confession of Swami Aseemanand it
becomes clear that the Hindutva terror network is also involved in
the 2006 Malegaon blast carried on the day of Shab-e-Barat –
another Muslim holy occasion", Malegaon's Kul Jamaati Tanzeem
leaders including Maulana Abdul Hameed Azhari, Sufi Ghulam Rasool,
Shakeel Faizee, Feroz Azami, Arif Turabi and others said in a
joint statement.
On 29th Ramadan in 2008, exactly
three years from today, Malegaon was attacked by the terrorists
allegedly associated with Hindutva organisations killing six
people and injuring scores other. The attack – a clear attempt to
target Muslims, was a repeat of what the town had seen on
Shab-e-Barat day in 2006 when a series of bomb blasts had killed
32 people and injured more than 300.
"On the third anniversary of the
2008 Malegaon blast, we intend to make it clear that despite Swami
Aseemanand’s confession, no further investigation is done on this
basis and the accused as pointed by Aseemanand in his confessional
statement made in front of the Magistrate, are still not taken
into the custody in the 2006 Malegaon blast case. The result is
that the Muslim youths, who were wrongly framed in the 2006 blast
case – as clearly established by Aseemanand’s confession are still
languishing in jail", they added.
The Ramadan bombing was followed by
painstaking investigations carried by slain ATS Chief Hemant
Karkare. His investigations into the 2008 terrorist attack in
Malegaon had exposed hitherto hidden face of Hindutva terror
network. Consequently, he also succeeded in arresting some of the
alleged culprits who were purported to be behind the 2008 Malegaon
blast. Unfortunately, Hemant Karkare was killed in the 26/11
Mumbai terror attack and further investigations into the Hindutva
terror network could not be carried forward. On the contrary, some
of those who were arrested by Hemant Karkare succeeded in getting
bail from the court.
"Before the 2008 Malegaon blast,
terrorist attacks were occurring with regular intervals at
different places in the country, though with the same regularity
investigating agencies were arresting Muslim youths after every
such attack. However after Hemant Karkare exposed the Hindutva
terror network, the number of terrorist attacks in India
decreased", the Kul Jamaati Tanzeem leaders said.
"It was not a coincidence but it
gave credence to our belief that the Hindutva terror network is
deep rooted and is believed to be active since many years. Part of
this terror network was also a conspiracy to mislead the
investigating agencies so that the blame is put on the Muslim
youths. But once they were exposed by Hemant Karkare and came into
the limelight, they could not indulge into the terror activities
in the same manner as they used to be earlier", they added.
"Despite this clear fact, it is
shocking to note that the investigation which was coming with more
and more surprising facts every day when it was carried by former
ATS Chief Hemant Karkare, came to a halt after his untimely death.
Not only that no progress or arrest is made after his death, cases
against those behind the bar were handled in such a lackluster
manner that two of the accused alleged to be involved in the
conspiracy were succeeded in getting bail from the court", they
said.
Reiterating their demand for a
thorugh and transparent probe into the incident, they said, "The
revelations made by Hemant Karkare are very serious. They not only
reveal that the key accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast were
involved in training hundreds of youths in terror activities but
it also showed that the Hindutva terrorists had links with
Pakistan’s ISI and Israel", they alleged.
"Hence", they said, "On the third
anniversary of the 2008 Malegaon blast, we demand that the
investigation into the incident is started afresh and these
serious revelations are thoroughly probed."
