New Delhi: In a relief to 44 deemed universities that were faced with the prospect of de-recognition, the government Tuesday told the Supreme Court that it will carry out a fresh reappraisal of their infrastructure and facilities.

Following the submission, the court gave the central government two weeks to issue individual notices to each of the 44 deemed universities pointing out deficiencies.

The 44 universities have been given 2 weeks' time to submit their replies.

The apex court bench of Justice Dalveer Bhandari and Justice Deepak Verma asked Attorney General G. Vahanvati to submit a comprehensive report on April 25. The matter will be taken up for hearing May 3.
