Monday September 12, 2011 07:57:48 AM, WAM

Islamabad: Pakistan Sunday observed the 63rd death anniversary of the father of the nation Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

People from all walks of life visited his mausoleum in Karachi to lay wreaths and offer Fateha (prayer). Prayers were also held in mosques across the country.

Cultural and educational programmes were organised to highlight the different aspects of his life, the official APP news agency reported.

Jinnah had led the Muslims of the sub-continent in a long struggle to acquire a separate homeland. Although he lived just over a year after the creation of Pakistan in 1947, he wanted to see his country become a role model for other nations.

Jinnah was born Dec 25, 1876 in Karachi. He is popularly and officially known as Quaid-e-Azam in Pakistan.
