CBSE UGC NET 2018 to be held as per revised scheme, Apply from March 06 onwards

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will hold UGC NET July 2018 as per the revised and new scheme, and a detailed notification regarding the same will be released soon, the CBSE said.

"It is notified that CBSE will conduct the next UGC-NET for Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor on 08th July, 2018 (Sunday) as per the revised scheme", the CBSE said in an officiation notification.

The candidates are required to apply online from 06th March, 2018. The last date for applying online is 05th April, 2018 and fee can be paid up to 06th April, 2018.

As per the revised scheme, the test will consist of two papers as below:.

CBSE UGC NET revised scheme

"Paper-I shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks. The questions which will be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate.

"It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate", the CBSE said.

"Paper-II shall consist of 100 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks which will be based on the subject selected by the candidate", it said.

CBSE UGC NET 2018 Age Limit

"The upper age limit for appearing in JRF has also been raised by two years, i.e. from the existing upper age limit of 28 years to 30 years (the relaxation as earlier will remain same)", the CBSE said.

However, a detailed of notification of CBSE UGC NET July 2018 is still awaited. It was supposed to be released on February 01, 2018, but it got delayed. The CBSE has not issued any statement explaining the delay except a line message which says the notification will be out soon.

"Information Bulletin of NET July 2018 will be available soon", the CBSE said.

The CBSE conducts UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) two times in a year to determine the eligibility of candidates for the posts Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

Candidates who qualify for the JRF are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible to apply for the post of an assistant professor in Indian universities and colleges.

The award of JRF and eligibility for assistant professor’s post depends on the performance of the candidate in all the three papers of NET. However, candidates qualifying exclusively for an assistant professor are not considered for JRF.

Candidates cracking the CBSE UGC NET are eligible for various Post Graduation level courses including M.Phil and Ph.D being run by more than 740 universities and institutions in the country.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the UGC NET 2017 on Sunday January 22 in 84 subjects in 90 cities across India. UGC NET November 2017 was conducted on Sunday November 05, 2017.
