Mumbai: Khaled Bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation has invited applications for SWB Challenge 2018 contest - Science Without Borders Challenge 2018 an international art competition.
The theme of the artwork is 'Why Coral Reefs Matter' and the artwork should portray its importance to you, your country, the world or the ecosystem.
Interested and eligible students should apply before April 23, 2018.
"The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation is excited to announce that this year’s Science Without Borders® Challenge is in conjunction with International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) to celebrate the International Year of the Reef (IYOR)", the foundation said.
IYOR is a global effort to increase awareness and understanding on the values and threats to coral reefs, and to support related conservation, research, and management efforts.
"The Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation’s Science Without Borders® Challenge is an international art competition that engages students to promote the need to preserve, protect, and restore the world’s oceans and aquatic resources", it said.
"The Science Without Borders® Challenge was created to get students and teachers interested in ocean conservation through various forms of art. This annual contest inspires students to be creative while learning about important ocean conservation issues", it added.
Who can apply for SWB Challenge
The SWB Challenge is open to primary and secondary school students 11-19 years old, with scholarships of up to $500 awarded to the winning entries.
SWB Challenge Prizes
The artwork will be judged on the basis of the age: Category 1: 11 - 14 years Category 2: 15 - 19 year. There will be three winners in both the categories. Prizes that will be awarded to the winners are as follows:
1st Prize: $500 2nd Prize: $350 3rd Prize: $200

Candidates applying for this scholarship have to make a 2D painting or drawing by using paint, pencil, marker, crayon, ink, felt and oil pastel.
Write details, such as name, and age, with the pencil on the back of the artwork and the signature on the front, right-hand corner of your artwork.
If the candidate is under the age of 13 years, he/she has to submit a COPPA privacy form by emailing the COPPA Form with the original artwork.
