CBI to close case of missing Babri Masjid files

New Delhi: With an aim to make the young generation aware of the Ram temple issue, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is all set to recreate the atmosphere of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement of the 1990s.

The sadhus from all over the country unanimously passed a resolution to relaunch the movement at the recently concluded Maha Kumbh in Haridwar. The radical VHP has taken up the responsibility to carry out the movement from August 16 all over the India.

"We will hold sessions in every town to chant Hanuman Chalisa as part of the movement. The aim is to attract the youngsters and make them aware of what happened in the past," said Prashant Hartalkar, a VHP official.

A source in the VHP said that relaunching of the movement will be restricted to the an awareness campaign and publishing booklets only.

"We are not going to ask for donations or bricks like last time. We will publish booklets having information on the earlier movement and describing what had happened then. This time, the activities will be limited around temples in the towns and the youths," he said.

Political analysts, however, are doubtful about the VHP's move. "I do not know how successful they would be in moving the people this time because they have lost their credibility," an analyst said.

The VHP had launched the Ram Janmabhoomi movement in the mid 1980s. In December 1992 Babari Masjid was razed to ground by the Hindutva goons and our conscious was hurt differently.

Then Prime Minister Narshima Rao, who remained mute in 1984’s Delhi pogrom, promised the nation that the mosque would be rebuilt. He also promised to take action against the culprits. Immediately after that Bombay witnessed the worst ever riots with open involvement of both Shiv Sena and Congress goons in 1993.
