Malegaon: Even as the accused in 2006 Malegaon blast case continues with an indefinite hunger strike, the relatives along with Human Right Activists call on the State Governor today afternoon and requested him to intervene.
"We have apprised Rastogi, the Personal Assistant of the Governor, about the worsening condition of Dr. Salman Farsi who is on indefinite hunger strike and requested the Governor to intervene as early as possible to end the deadlock", Advocate Mujib Momin who accompanied the delegation from Malegaon that met the Governor today afternoon informs ummid.com from the Governor House, Mumbai.
According to Advocate Mujib, Dr. Salman, one of the accused in 2006 Malegaon blast case and in jail since more than two years, is on indefinite hunger strike demanding for the early completion of the CBI investigations. He is also demanding, Advocate Mujib says, to shift their cases to a fast track court.
Salman's wife Dr. Nafeesa who was part of the delegation that went to Governor House today afternoon to meet the Governor while speaking to ummid.com says that her husband had wrongly been implicated in the 2006 blast case and adds, "We are continuously demanding that if the CBI completes its investigations and the case is heard in a fast track court, the accused would prove their innocence. However since our demands are not heard and the accused are lingering in the jail since last more than two years without trial my husband went on indefinite hunger strike on March 18 to press these demands."
Dr. Salman along with few other accused had recently been shifted from Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai to Ratnagiri. He was in Ratnagiri prison when he went on the hunger strike but due to his deteriorating health condition, the Jail Authorities shifted him from the prison cell to the Ratnagiri Civil Hospital. "However as his condition deteriorated even further, from Ratnagiri Civil Hospital, the authorities shifted him to JJ Hospital in Mumbai", informs his wife Dr. Nafeesa.
Earlier on March 24 Advocate Mujib had written a letter on behalf of the relatives to the Prime Minister, Home Minister and the Minister for Minority Affairs requesting them for the immediate intervention. |
