Muslim group to protest against Madani's indictment in blast case: Muslim Samyuktha Vedi, a platform for various Muslim organisations, demanding the removal of PDP leader Abdul Nassar Madani's name from the charge sheet of the Bangalore .... Read Full
Kollam: The PDP and the supporters of Madani are on the move to make the inmates, including the children of Anwarsseri Yatheemkhana, as human shields to protect Madani from the arrest of Bangalore Police.
According to sources, Madani moved to Anwarsseri with this objective two weeks ago when he came to know about the possibility of arrest. Anwarsserri is the ideal place where Madani's supporters can offer strong resistance to the arrest.
Around 150 inmates are there in the Yatheemkhana and a good number of them are children in the age group of 12 to 15. Resisting the arrest of Madani has now turned out as one affecting the very survival of the PDP.
A large number of supporters drawn from various parts of the State are camping at the Yatheemkhana for the past so many days and the party leadership is doing everything to boost their morale. The self-immolation attempts which took place a few days ago were part of the game plan.
Efforts are on to portray the case against Madani as an onslaught against Dalit-Muslim communities and a human rights issue.
However, the PDP leadership is worried about the lukewarm response of Muslim organisations. Even those organisations, which had extended support when Soofiya Madani was held in custody, have not come forward this time. Only an organisation called Imam Aikya Vedi declared its support to Madani, who has much influence in it.
The PDP leadership is doing its best to rally more organisations behind Madani in the coming days. The presence of journalist Bhasurendra Babu, who is a votary of the Pinarayi faction in the CPM, has raised many an eye brow.
