AP Wakf Board CEO caught taking bribe

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh (AP) Wakf Board CEO, B.S. Farooq Ahmed is caught by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday while taking bribe in cash as partial amount in return to giving a job to a resident of Mehdipatnam.

"The CEO was caught when he was taking Rs.1 lakh from a person who wanted a job in the Wakf Board", said Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials.

Acoording to an official, Farooq had demanded Rs.2 lakh from Arshad, a youth from Kadapa district, to appoint him as a security guard. Farooq was caught while taking Rs.1 lakh.

ACB officials raided Farooq's house to conduct a thorough probe into his assets. The bribe amount was recovered and during the follow up searches at Ahmed's residence an unaccounted amount of Rs 85,000 has been seized, the officials said.

CEO Farooque, called the applicant to his house for discussion and said others are ready to pay 5 to 10 lakhs: Arshad told the reporters.

 

The accused will be produced before the Principal Special Judge for ACB cases after he is arrested, officials said, adding further investigations are on.
