Malegaon: People of Malegaon were suspicious from the day one about the way, first local investigating agencies and then ATS were carrying out the investigation of Malegaon bomb blasts. A serial bomb blasts occurred on Friday, September 08, 2006 at Qabristan where thousands turned up for special prayers on the eve of Shab-e-Barat. More than thirty people had died and scores were injured in this serial blasts.
Soon after the bomb blasts, when no investigations were carried out, speculations were allegedly made that these bomb blasts were carried out by some Muslim fundamentalist group and despite people of Malegaon showing dissatisfaction and disbelief over this claim, the whole investigation allegedly continued in this direction only.
People of Malegaon were not ready to believe that this act had been done by any Muslims and fearing that the investigating agencies are trying to cover up the whole conspiracy by blaming the blasts on Muslims, they demanded for independent or CBI inquiry of the whole incident.
People of Malegaon wandered Malegaon to Mumbai and Malegaon to Delhi with their demands of CBI inquiry and ATS continued their investigations in the direction to vindicate their claim. ATS finally arrested few Muslim youths and confirmed their claim which was made immediately after the blasts. .
On November 27, 2006, they ultimately declared that Malegaon bomb blast case has been successfully detected at a press conference presided over by Director General of Police Dr. Pasricha when it seemed quite clear that government is thinking to hand over the case to CBI.
According to the police, the accused Huda and Raees Ahmed planted the bombs that went off at Qabristan, while Zahid planted the bomb at Mushawarat Chowk.
Albeit the claim by DGP in this press conference, people of Malegaon were not ready to believe that the bomb blasts were carried out by these Muslim youths. Instead they reaffirmed their claim that all those arrested in this case are innocent and the inquiry should be handed over to CBI.
To further vindicate their claim People of Malegaon sent a fact finding team comprising of Ulema, Advocates and Journalists, to Phool Sawangi in Taluka Mahagaon, District Pusad near Nanded, located around five hundred kilometers from Malegaon, from where Zahid was arrested by ATS in connection with Malegaon bomb blasts on November 21, 2006.
It was this Mohd. Zahid S/o Ab. Majeed Master the police alleged that had planted the bomb at Mushawarat Chowk in Malegaon on September 08, 2006.
But to the surprise of the fact finding team that visited Phool Sawangi on December 08, 2006, Mohd. Zahid was there at Phool Sawangi on that fateful day when bomb exploded in Malegaon.
Documents available with ummid.com reveal that some three hundred people had signed a document confirming that Mohd. Zahid was there in Phool Sawangi on September 08, 2006. Not only was he there in Phool Sawangi on Friday, September 08, 2006, he only led the prayers as usual in the mosque where he was working as Imam and also teaching to children.
In a signed document available with ummid.com, Mohd. Zahid’s wife Salma Bi also confirmed his presence in Phool Sawangi on September 08, 2006 and she claimed Mohd. Zahid normally never traveled out side of their village and had never possessed mobile or land line phone. Salma Bi, a resident of nearby Kopra village, said she had been married to Zahid around one year back at the behest of her uncle Zaman Khan and found her husband gentle and very noble person. He had not asked for any dowry and no body from Malegaon had even attended their marriage ceremony. She said the same reputation Mohd Zahid was having with the locals of Phool Sawangi where he was working in a small mosque since last more that two years. She further said not only Muslims but non-Muslim fellow residents of Phool Sawangi were also surprised when they came to know about the police claim.
With this report coming out, people of Malegaon are wondering how a person who was there at Phool Sawangi, which is more than five hundred kilometers away from Malegaon, can plant a bomb at Mushawarat Chowk in Malegaon on September 08, 2006.
