Malegaon: The Malegaon blast accused in jail allegedly for masterminding the blast that occurred in the Muslim dominated textile town on September 29, 2008 are nothing to do with Abhinav Bharat, assert the trustees.
Stating that they understand and share the sense of anger with those associated with the unfortunate events in Malegaon, in a letter sent to ummid.com through an e-mail this afternoon, Pankaj Phadnis, who claimed to be one of the trustees of Abhinav Bharat wrote, "Please do understand that the Malegaon accused have nothing to do with Abhinav Bharat. Their organization is an Imposter and has no right to call itself Abhinav Bharat."
Pankaj Phadnis was referring to the news report published in ummid.com on April 28, 2009 that had quoted the demand made by Qaumi Majlis-e-Shoora to ban Abhinav Bharat. The demand was made in the press conference held in Mumbai on the same evening after Abrar Ahmad, the lone approver into the 2006 Malegaon blast case turned hostile and alleged the accused in 2006 blast were wrongly implicated into the case.
"After the allegations Abrar Ahmad has made in his affidavit, our stand is vindicated. We demand from the government to ban Abhinav Bharat and to take action against the officers for hatching the conspiracy to implicate the innocents in the 2006 blast case”, Karim Milli, president of the Qaumi Majlis-e-Shoora had said in the press conference.
However in the letter sent to ummid.com, Panakj Phadnis denied the blast accused have anything to do with the organisation and hence disapproved the demand to ban Abhinav Bharat.
"We do want Rule of Law to prevail and justice done to the victims of Malegaon. However, we can not support the demand to ban Abhinav Bharat - for the real Abhinav Bharat is in no way associated with violent or sectarian activities of any kind anywhere", he wrote in the letter.
Stating that they had already filed a PIL (No. PIL 2/ 2009) on the same issue that was last heard on April 2, 2009, the letter said, "The Hon'ble Court was pleased to direct the Government to make it's stand clear. We expect the facts to be established in the next hearing that shall take place sometime in June 09."
