Pune:
Pune police on Wednesday booked Shivaji Borhade, a staffer at the Yashwantrao Mohite College, after a 31-year-old Iranian student accused him of seeking sexual favours in return for assistance with her PhD course.

According to the complaint lodged at Kothrud Police Station, Borhade made the proposition when she approached him for guideship, Hindutsan Times reported Thursday..

The student, who recorded her conversation with the professor on her mobile phone, had come to Pune to acquire a doctoral degree.

“Borhade said he would help me with the PhD degree, provided I did what he asked,” she stated in her complaint.

The Yashwantrao Mohite College is affiliated to the Bharati Vidyapeeth, a deemed university.

Pune is the favourite destination for foreign students who come to India for higher education. According to a report, the city is host to almost 40 per cent of foreign students coming to India. Majority of them are students from Afro-Asian countries.
