Demand for speedy investigations intensifies
Muslim leaders in
Malegaon to sit for a day long Dharna tomorrow

Malegaon:
Demanding that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) completes
its investigations into 2006 Malegaon blast and the Muslim youths in
jail since more than two and half years should be released, local
Muslim leaders have decided to sit on a day-long dharna
outside the Deputy Collector office in Malegaon tomorrow on
Thursday.
"Since the government is not paying
any heed to our repeatedly made demands for speedy CBI
investigations into 2006 Malegaon blast and the release of the
accused who are lingering in the jail since more than two and half
years, after a prolonged discussions on Monday late in the evening,
it was decided to sit for a day-long dharna on June 4, this
Thursday", leader of Kul Jmaati Tanzeem, Abdul Hameed Azhari said
while speaking to ummid.com.
Malegaon, the predominantly Muslim
textile town in North Maharashtra went through two terrorist
attacks, one in 2006 and the other in 2008. Both the incidents, that
preceded the Muslim festivals resulted in the casualties of the
local Muslims. While the investigating agencies put the blame of the
2006 blast on the Muslim youths belonging to SIMI, the ATS arrested
Sadhavi Pragya Singh Thkaur, Col. Prohit and other Hindu Terrorists
belonging to right wing Hindu extremist groups for masterminding the
2008 blast.
Stating that after the breakthrough
made into the 2008 Malegaon blast by late ATS Chief Hemant Karkare
and the disclosure made by Abrar Ahmad, the approver who later
turned hostile, it is clear that the police had wrongly implicated
the Muslim youths in the case, Azhari said, "Even then the
government despite our repeated pleas at every level, citing one or
the other reason, is not showing any sincerity in looking into the
matter."
Stating that Thursday's Dharna in
front of the Prant Office would be a signal for the commencement of
a prolonged fight with the government, he said, "If the government
doesn't take any action even now, we would be forced to start a
statewide agitation to bring it to its knees."
Along with the speedy investigations
of the blast and release of the Muslim youths, the leaders are also
demanding adequate security arrangements for Abrar Ahmad, the
approver-turned-hostile, whose life, the leaders say, are in danger
ever since he has filed an affidavit accusing few police officials
of hatching a conspiracy to nab the Muslim youths.
