Malegaon:
Opposing the appointment of KP
Raghuvanshi as State ATS Chief and demanding fast track court for
the blast accused detained in 2006, Leaders from Malegaon led by All
Sects Organisation (Kul Jamaati Tanzeem) and supported by a host of
NGOs are sitting in a dharna at Azad Maidan in Mumbai today
afternoon.
"We
will be holding a Dharna at Azad Maidan on July 2 at 3pm to
press for the same and larger issues concerning secular aspects of
our nation", said the press release issued by All Sects Organisation,
Malegaon.
"Our persistent efforts to meet the
Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has failed hence as it was decided in
the rally held in Malegaon on June 19, we would be sitting in a
dharna from 02:00 onwards in the afternoon today at Azad Maidan,
Mumbai", said Maulana Abdul Hameed Azhari, one of the All Sects
Organisation leader.
All Sects Organisation of Malegaon
formed after the 2006 serial blast in Malegaon comprises of the
leaders from all religious sects in Islam. The organisation was
formed to disapprove the claim by the investigating agencies that
the 2006 blast in Malegaon was the result of the Muslim sectarian
differences.
Apart from registering opposition over
the appointment of K. P. Raghuvanshi as State Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS)
Chief, today's dharna is a beginning to intensify the demand
for the fast track court for the accused who were detained for the
Malegaon 2006 serial blast, continuation of the investigation into
Malegaon 2008 blast on the lines followed by slain ATS Chief Hemant
Karkare and detention of those who were pointed by him and were
involved in hatching a conspiracy against the country, said the
leaders from Malegaon who are camping in Mumbai since last few days.
"It is strange that ever since the
post of ATS Chief has been given to KP Raghuvanshi, the whole
investigations into the 2008 Malegaon blast has come to a halt.
Otherwise, why those who were involved in the blast and had
reportedly hatched a conspiracy against the country are still not
nabbed? Where are those who had been given the training for making
the bombs? All these details were widely reported by the media when
the investigations were going on, but all of a sudden everything
vanished", said Abu Rizwan Mohammadi, another Kul Jamaati Tanzeem
leader.
Today's dharna that would be
held at Azad Maidan from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM is also supported by a
host of NGOs working for Human Right violations.
"The
people of Malegaon will be coming to Mumbai to demand that the state
government accede to their just demands and release the victimised
youth. In tandem, we too demand that Mr. Raghuvanshi, the new
ATS
chief, be made to relinquish his task as he had misled the earlier
investigation into the Malegaon terror attacks", said the joint
statement released by the leaders belonging to Awami Bharat, Qaumi
Majles-e-Shura,
BAMCEF, Republican Panther, Marxist-Phule-Ambedkarite,
Jamaat-i-Islami, Marathi Bharthi, Nirbhay Bano and other
organisations.
Earlier, the meeting of the Muslim
MLAs called by All Sects Organisation at Jamiatul Ulema State
Headquarter in Mumbai, discussed in details various options for the
early release of the innocents who are behind the bar since 2006.
All Sects Organisation, Malegaon had
sent letters to all Muslim MLAs in the Maharashtra Legislative
Assembly requesting them to be present for a meeting on July 01,
2009. However baring Nawab Malik who is also a Minister in
the Government of Maharashtra, no MLA turned up at the venue for the
meeting.
